30 Film Females

Filed under: 30 Film Females, Bechdel Test, films — ootastic @ 3:50 pm

It’s hard to believe that it’s nearly thirty (three-zero!) years since Alison Bechdel proposed the so-called Bechdel Test, which asks whether a film portrays at least two women who talk to each other about something other than a man.  Yet the silver screen still seems dominated by male-centric fare, with women often relegated to romantic or supporting roles.  Over the next few months, I plan to celebrate some of the great female movie characters from the past three decades.  These may not be from the most award-winning or box office-busting films, but they’re ones I remember enjoying and can somehow illustrate.  Feel free to join in!
