30 Film Females: The Young Victoria (2009)

Filed under: 30 Film Females, Doctor Who, Lovelace — ootastic @ 8:47 pm

It’s the old story: girl meets boy, girl becomes queen, girl loses boy.  In royal biopic The Young Victoria, we catch a glimpse of what goes on behind those gilded doors with a sympathetic portrayal of the titular monarch by Emily Blunt.  The doodle below is also inspired by Sydney Padua’s extensively footnoted graphic novel The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage plus the kick-ass claymation queen in Aardman Animations’ brilliantly titled Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists! (disappointingly know as Pirates! Band of Misfits in the USA).

Honourable mentions for 2009: Carey Mulligan as a tempted teenager in An Education.  Also, Saoirse Ronin as the murdered schoolgirl in The Lovely Bones.
