30 Film Females: Panic Room (2002)

Filed under: 30 Film Females — ootastic @ 10:43 am

In this blog series I’ve tried to avoid multiple posts about any one (female) actor, but now realise Jodie Foster has achieved the hat-trick.  She’s previously impressed in vocational roles in The Silence of the Lambs and Contact (as an FBI agent and scientist, respectively), but particularly resonates as a protective mother in Panic Room, with support from a young Kristin Stewart as the daughter. They not only have to contend with a trio of vicious burglars but also with David Fincher’s notoriously kinetic direction!

This doodle features my current motto for life with a toddler – also the famous catchphrase from Dad’s Army (originally filmed near where I live)  – and also an Emergency Red Button likely to tempt curious fingers everywhere (I’m looking at you, Father Dougal).

Honourable mentions for 2002: a bountiful bevy of talented ladies in The Hours (particularly Julianne Moore’s melancholic mother). Also, Hilary Swank as a dilligent police officer in Insomnia.
